Scholarship

The Robert A. Black Higher Education Scholarship

FJM believes in the youth of today. Since 1994, we have awarded over $70,000 in scholarships to students who have attended our clinics.  Students who are recognized with the Outstanding Achievement Award at one of our clinics and are entering their senior year of high school are presented with a scholarship application and become eligible to apply.  The FJM Scholarship Selection Committee will select four recipients of the $1,500 scholarship from the applications received.  This is our way of recognizing all the hard work, dedication, and determination that so many wonderful young people devote to this performing activity.

Robert “Bob” Black served as a clinic assistant for many years at the Fred J. Miller Summer Clinics. He was certainly outstanding in his assignments and work and created a positive image for the students to emulate and follow. During the final presentation for the parents and friends, when Bob was introduced, the entire student body would give him a standing ovation. He was loved by each and every student and they showed this quite openly by their applause and cheering. Mr. Black passed away on March 1, 2005. In his honor, we have renamed our clinic scholarship to be the Robert A. Black Higher Education Scholarship.
